Bombing of a University

This isn't the first bombing of a University in Iraq. I've always thought that bombing a university was somehow worse than other bombings, and this time I think I've figured out why. To me, a school is kind of like a church. It is a place of learning, where the foundations of our society are taught.

I don't see this war as an Iraqi vs. American thing, or a Sunni vs. Shiite thing, it's a battle between those who want society to progress and those who want it stuck in the past. Maybe it's more accurate to say that it's a war between people who eschew violence and who think people should be free to be who they are, and those who want to kill anyone who doesn't live the way they do, but I think of those people as being stuck in the past.

I have a lot of respect for people who want to live a simple life free of technology. The people who come most to mind when I say that are the Amish. Their society will shrink and grow depending on how their ideology appeals to those around them. They certainly wouldn't think of imposing their lifestyle on others. I think radical Islam should take a similar approach. Buy some land with other similar minded folk and live their lives the way they see fit. If other people like it, they'll follow suit and their numbers will grow.

It all comes down to a matter of respect. Everyone has an idea of how they think life should be lived. Do you respect other peoples intelligence enough to allow them to follow their own ideals, or do you force them at gunpoint to follow yours.

I think that what you are saying is that radical Islam doesn't respect other people's lifestyle/ideology and thus try to impose their views on others at gunpoint.

You also say that they should buy some land with other similar minded folk and live their lives the way they see fit. The problem is that they think that it is the world who does not respect their lifestyle. They point to the Palestinian problem as proof. They also point to the military American Bases on what they consider to be (not only their land but also) Holy/sacred land.

They also claim that they have been trying for decades to get the world to focus on their grievances without success and that only terrorism gets the world's attention. They believe that the atrocities of terrorist acts are in proportion to the perceived atrocities imposed on them by our way of life.

Scholars have also pointed out that suicide bombers are usually disenfranchised, young, poor, Muslim, males and blame the situation on the West.

In my opinion, there's no excuse for killing innocent people. We have no more say in their living conditions than they do.

You're right of course. It's fine for me to sit here and say what I think they should do, it's quite another thing to convince them that.

Another problem is that a hunter gatherer society is not sustainable in the long run if they are living in close proximity to farmers and ranchers. The reason is that hunter gatherers cannot gather and hunt enough food to sustain a population large enough to over run the farmers and ranchers. The farmers and ranchers thus over run the hunters and gatherers.

Anyway, since the government loves to spend money on studies that everyone already knows the answer to, they should fund a study to prove my point. The study could ask the native American Indians what are the potential consequences of having a large illegal population entering your country illegally.

Or maybe they can fund a study to find out if we can open gaming casinos and get rich of the new illegal population.

I don't know what exactly to say about this, radical Islam does not exist, this ideolofy arised by wahabbists who attached themselves to Islam, I admit that arabs and muslims overall don't feel that much secure and tend to take a defensive opinion, but a muslim who's so attached to his religion won't go blow himself, coz suicide itself isn't allowed, he can't prevent schools coz learning is the main principle of islam, and I'm definitely not writing this as a defense to Islam as no one around me attacked it, however I'm just writing to say that any real muslim realizes that these people aren't muslims nor humans, an the only way for muslims to get a good image for themselves is to start getting rid of those so called radicals.

best regards.
